Reason number 9,499,921.3 that proves the Democratic Party no longer represent liberals, or Americans for that matter.
The kept silent about the NSA wiretapping when select members of Congress were briefed about the program. Sure, they sent their secret letters, and may have grumbled in private, but did any of them have the guts to stand up for our rights?
No.
Why?
Perhaps they were scared that they would be seen as unpatriotic, or "weak on defense" (whatever that means, but the phrase sure seems to scare liberals), or did not want to lose their voyeuristic, ego-stroking access to top secret briefings. Here's a tip, Congressional Democrats: secret briefings are not an excuse for a masturbatory trip into the cloak and dagger world of the CIA and NSA, they are for you do your job of executive oversight and defend civil liberties. One thing I will give W credit for, he sticks to his principles, even if they are under attack or unpopular. Perhaps you should learn a lesson from this. Stand up for freedom of speech, stand up for civil rights, stand up for the right of US citizens to be left alone, stand up for due process, but most of all- STAND UP.
Luckily there is a party that is dedicated to the rights of all Americans, the Green Party. Within the next 10 years, the first Greens will be elected to Congress. Get ready for all hell to break loose.
