Well, I guess "better late than never" is the operative phrase here. Warner has finally come to terms with the fact that a war based on WMD fantasies, linkages between 9-11/Alqueda/Saddam that never existed, and a conservative regime controlling all 3 branches of our federal government may be cause for a reevaluation of our priorities.
Here's a tip, comrade Democrats: If you run a pro-war/pro-occupation presidential campaign, you will lose. If ever it becomes confusing, or tempting to run a pro-war/pro-occupation campaign, just repeat this phrase a few dozen times in the mirror. Or, just jolt yourself back into reality by saying "Yes, right away, President Cheney." That should be enough to scare you to death right there.
Yes, you will be called "cut and run Democrats" by the Republicans.
Yes, you will be accused of "supporting the terrorists" by the Republicans.
Yes, you will be accused of being "soft on security" by the Republicans.
Yes, you will be accused of "not supporting our soldiers" by the Republicans.
But they are wrong, and we are not. Being "right" on the issues always matter, and it matters even more now. It is time to withdraw from Iraq. It is time to tell the Iraqi government and the insurgents that they need to get serious about a political settlement to the internal conflicts that have exploded since the removal of the Saddam regime.
