Gov Warner in Iowa comes to terms with the obvious-the US should leave Iraq

Well, I guess "better late than never" is the operative phrase here. Warner has finally come to terms with the fact that a war based on WMD fantasies, linkages between 9-11/Alqueda/Saddam that never existed, and a conservative regime controlling all 3 branches of our federal government may be cause for a reevaluation of our priorities.

Here's a tip, comrade Democrats: If you run a pro-war/pro-occupation presidential campaign, you will lose. If ever it becomes confusing, or tempting to run a pro-war/pro-occupation campaign, just repeat this phrase a few dozen times in the mirror. Or, just jolt yourself back into reality by saying "Yes, right away, President Cheney." That should be enough to scare you to death right there.

Yes, you will be called "cut and run Democrats" by the Republicans.
Yes, you will be accused of "supporting the terrorists" by the Republicans.
Yes, you will be accused of being "soft on security" by the Republicans.
Yes, you will be accused of "not supporting our soldiers" by the Republicans.

But they are wrong, and we are not. Being "right" on the issues always matter, and it matters even more now. It is time to withdraw from Iraq. It is time to tell the Iraqi government and the insurgents that they need to get serious about a political settlement to the internal conflicts that have exploded since the removal of the Saddam regime.

2008 Will Al Gore Run, or will Al Gore run?

Author Al Cohen asks Can Al Gore Be Trusted?

The real question is: when the Republicans try to steal the election again - remember it worked pretty well for them in 2000 and 2004 - will he fight for the victory the American people might give him?

In a recent interview on NPR, he stated (paraphrased) that there was nothing to do between the Supreme Court handing the election to George Bush, and violent insurrection.

Not true, Al. Not true at all.

We have seen in eastern Europe in the late 1980's, in the Ukraine recently, and also in Mexico. When there is election fraud, you take to the streets. Get everyone, and I mean everyone, to come out in support of a legal and acccurately counted election. Governments quickly bend to the peoples will when millions of them are in the streets demanding justice.

So the next time the kleptocratic Republican party tries to steal the election - tell your supporters that justice is larger than crooked vote counters, party operatives, and a cowardly Supreme Court.

We Greens fought for election justice in Ohio in 2004, suing and paying for a recount that uncovered clear evidence of stunning election fraud. Kerry stood by with his millions of dollars and hundreds of lawyers, and did nothing.

Will Mr. Gore do the same? If you run in 2008 Mr. Gore, good luck to you, but do not betray the American people again.
